Yikes!…We Live In The World’s Most Expensive City ~ Singapore

Marina Bay Sands and Merlion in Singapore

So, apparently we now live in the world’s most expensive city.  According to Economist Intelligence Unit (whatever that is…) Singapore just took the top spot away from Tokyo as the priciest place to call home.  When a 900 sq. foot apartment costs $4000 a month to rent, and a certificate to purchase and drive a car costs just as much as the car itself,  there’s no arguing that Singapore is ridiculously expensive.

However, aside from the cost of housing, vehicles, alcohol, utilities, groceries, clothing, hair cuts, and taxis, it really isn’t all that bad!  After all, the most you’ll pay for an MRT ride, no matter the distance, is something like $1.90.  And you can get a decent meal at a hawker centre for a low $3.00.

So, what the heck…why not live in the world’s most expensive city?!  Maybe when we go back to Canada we’ll stop being so cheap!
