Why Can’t We Stop Watching The Hangover Part II?

For the past two weeks, we haven’t been able to stop watching The Hangover Part II.  Asking ourselves “why??”, we agreed that it clearly wasn’t because of its unique plot.  Most people were thoroughly disappointed with this sequel, but we on the other hand, thoroughly enjoyed it for these reasons:

1. Set in Thailand!  Without a doubt, this is the number one reason we continue to watch this movie over and over and over again.  The scenery is authentic, showing the dirty, pristine, grungy, and idealistic sides of Thailand.  From Chinatown in Bangkok to a 5-star resort in Krabi, watching Hangover 2 makes us feel and wish we were there!!  The only thing missing are authentic Thai accents.

2. Stereotypical Bangkok, all in one movie!  From ladyboys seducing foreigners, to monkeys dealing drugs, to cockroach infested run-down hotels, and monks being monks, Hangover 2 has all the stereotypes that make Bangkok unique.  Taken with a grain of salt though, anyone who’s been to Bangkok knows there’s so much more to this fantastic city than these stereotypes.  Simply said, Bangkok is awesome for all of this, and so much more!

3. The music!  From the slow-mo airport walk to Kanye West’s “Stronger”, to Mike Tyson singing “One Night in Bangkok”, the music chosen for this movie is absolutely perfect.  Even Kanye’s hardcore “Monster” has us head banging and lip-rapping as the “adventure” is about to begin.  And, you can’t forget Stu’s version of “Allentown” as the Wolfpack cruises down the river, about to give up on their missing friend.

4. Fanta in a bag.  $6 stitches.  Elephants in the street.  Imagery that can only be captured in Asia!
