With the help of Google Translate to help us understand the Disney Crowd Calendar, we were absolutely frightened when we discovered that the only day we could visit Tokyo Disneyland was predicted to be “Violently Crowded”! On an eight tiered scale that begins with “People Rattle” at less than 20 000 attendees, we couldn’t have picked a worse time to visit the park with an attendance projection of well over 70 000 Disney loving Japanese teenagers on Spring Break.
A busy theme park is one thing, in fact, we like crowds…but if we had any hope of getting on more than one ride, we were going to need a strategy. So, we researched the heck out of Tokyo Disney, mapped out every direction we’d need to take, learned which rides were worth skipping and which ones were must-do’s, knew exactly which Fast Passes to get and which rides to queue for, and had Google Translate on standby just in case we needed it. We were certainly at a disadvantage, going up against the local season ticket holders on their home turf, but we were up for the challenge!
Apparently, Google Translate failed to inform us that when visiting Tokyo Disney, you must dress up with your friends as twins, triplets, quadruplets, quintuplets, sextuplets, septuplets, octuplets, nonuplets, or decuplets. The first thing we noticed upon arriving at the park was that we were not dressed for the part. So, after obtaining our first Fast Past at Monsters Inc, and running to queue in the terribly disappointing Pooh’s Hunny Hunt, we needed some Disney gear. Katherine scored a big red bow, but Thomas just couldn’t man up enough to wear the Monster’s Inc head gear.
By midday, we managed to get on all the rides we wanted to before the queues reached 3+ hours, sowe decided it would be in everyone’s best interest to get some photos with all the look-a-likes. #totallyworthit #theylovedit #welovedthem
