Before we left for Singapore, we knew our hefty housing allowance of just over $4000 SGD per month wouldn’t get us anything close to what it could pay for in Canada. Back home, this amount of money could easily get you a family home and then some. So, what exactly did $4000 get us?
– A complex called The Caspian
– 948 sq ft. – 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom apartment.
– 50 meter swimming pool
– Tennis and “multi-purpose” courts
– Fitness studio, complete with one set of weights and enough cardio equipment to keep everyone happy
– Direct MRT access, and lakeside living.
Needless to say, we’re pretty happy! :)
That is very nice. We cannot afford that if that is in Hong Kong

Hi Michael! Do you mean you couldn’t get the amount of square feet? Or the quality? So far we feel that Singapore has been a good choice! Especially because our facilities are so new, and we like the modern feel of our apartment :)

Nice pad! My favorite pic is the one of the bathroom where I can see your blue and pink Oral B toothbrushes on display. Looks like the ones Diana gave you last time I saw you? I am happy you guys still brush your teeth in Singapore! Singapore seems awesome and it looks you are enjoying yourselves out there :)

So nice to hear from you! Thomas and I are doing a fantastic job at keeping our teeth and gums healthy and clean. I’ve been flossing everyday and we have a cupboard full of toothbrushes that Diana gave us before we left! We have yet to find a dentist though, and I’m sure when we do find our “new dentist,” they won’t even be comparable to your outstanding quality of care.
We like that you’re our friend! Come visit us in Singapore! :)

And I miss you guys!!! How is everything going? I haven’t found a gym to teach at yet, but you’d be happy to know I’ve been participating in boot camps by a man who is much less forgiving than me… Haha! It’s wonderful to hear from you Shelly, please pass on my love to the other OWF ladies! Xo K

Hi Thomas and Katherine (although we haven’t met),
I finally got a chance to look at your site. I’m envious, it’s -20C in YYC today and supposed to be that way all week! Thank goodness it is sunny.
Your place looks lovely. Another best thing about Singapore is when you look out the window you see green!
When we went to SE Asia in addition to Singapore we enjoyed Bali, Vietnam, Cambodia and Redang, Malaysia. I enjoyed Thailand and Hong Kong on a previous trip. I certainly paid more then your posted fares to get there!
If you can, try to get to Redang via Seletar Airport. The island ‘closes’ in the winter. We went in August, the snorkeling house reef was great and boat trips were inexpensive. I would also recommend Halong Bay and Hoi An in Vietnam.
Have you discovered the spa on Sentosa Island, Spa Botanica? This was lovely way to spend the day for a day pass fee, cool black pool.
Looking forward to reading more about your adventures!
