Last night, we decided it was about time to put together a short video of our trip to Myanmar. Our attempts at making one together failed because we both valued different aspects of the trip. Hence the creation of this post, The Great Myanmar Video Challenge!
Using the exact same raw footage, we created two separate videos in secrecy. Katherine’s sequential “story” of the trip begins in Yangon, then moves to Bagan, Kalaw, and lastly, Inle Lake. Thomas’ video is a bit more random, highlighting the best of the best video footage.
We now need your help to determine who’s is better! After watching both videos, we’d greatly appreciate a quick vote at the bottom of the page! (Aaaaand, even perhaps a comment) :)

Now, . . . . I would think that a couple of experienced teachers such as yourselves would know that reducing such a competition to a simple question of which version is ‘better’ is creating a false dichotomy, and that such types of assessment don’t often show the deeper truth of most – or perhaps any – comparable situations. With so many variables to consider, issues of production and editing, sound engineering and visual design, a click in one column or the other sells both of you short. Both of these films – and I insist on calling them films – are of the highest caliber. Each showcase unique and meaningful insights into not only your adventures in Asia, but reflect your individual character and how you view yourself. Moreover, both films demonstrate keen understanding of the viewer’s emotional and psychological investment in your journey, and in both cases, you don’t fail to walk us hand-in-hand through your own personal, I dare say spiritual, journey. lol hahahhahaha just kiddin!

I can’t believe I just watched those instead of making breakfast! lol,
I can’t choose, they both have strong points and other times where I just don’t want to see Thomas’s butt lol … main comment…. I don’t like pop music with such a old land it totally distracts me.
maybe you can find something here…. http://www.jamendo.com, and integrate with actual audio clips if you have any…, also… any pics of something blowing up or crashing? I was hoping to see those kids take their bikes across the water…

Like both of your video “shorts.” Katherine had some interesting FFWD stuff, of course the baby on the peas was perhaps one of my favourite shots. Your smiles captured by each other were great too. Can’t wait until the next adventure.

Lovely travel log of your trip and experience in Myanmar. Nice balance between scenery and people/culture. Creative and beautiful photography. The videos you share with us is like bringing us along on your trips. It seems like such a wonderful trip for both of you.
After watching both videos, I was a little sea sick but that is normal for me when videos are a little jiggly. It is much much better than my graduate students whose home-made videos are sometimes so bad that I had to close my eyes.
Keep it up and upload more stuff on your great website.
